KittyInkpot Season IV Resting in the Evening Breeze - 4ml Fountain Pen Ink Sample
Details
Hue: A warm peach-apricot that separates hard. The official description (Noetic Paper) calls it a peach ink with dark pink haloing and blue-yellow chromashading. My swatches match on the peach and the halo — the halo reads as a deep wine-magenta, verging on maroon where the ink pools heavily. Where mine diverge: the separation is much more green than the "blue-yellow" description suggests. My muddler swabs break to sage and a distinct teal-green in the centres, with olive-green micro-drops. In handwriting it lays down considerably paler than the swatch bar — a soft sandy tan rather than peach, with a faint olive cast in the thinner strokes.
Shading: Extreme. This is a chromatic separation ink rather than a conventional shader — a single stroke can run from pale green through peach to wine at the edge. The dip-pen bar shows a green line running straight through the middle of a peach band with a dark pink border.
Sheen: None observed in my swatches.
Shimmer: None.
Flow: Dry.
The interesting bit: This is from Kitty Inkpot's Season IV, titled The Prologue of Seasons. The Chinese name on the bottle is 时间栖于晚风 — "time resting in the evening breeze". The verb 栖 is the one used for a bird settling onto a branch to roost for the night, so the name is closer to "time perching in the evening breeze" than simply resting in it. The label carries a dusk-sky photograph to match. Kitty Inkpot is a small independent ink studio in China (猫只瓶),and it has built its reputation almost entirely on this kind of aggressive chromatic separation.
This is a hand-decanted 4ml sample vial from my own bottle.
