Details
Hue: A dusty, nostalgic rose pink. Officially and in most reviews it's described as a pale blush pink; my swatches run noticeably deeper and more muted, a dusty rose with a mauve-berry lean that darkens towards plum where it pools. Finer nibs will write lighter than the swabs shown.
Shading: Light to moderate in writing, with paler strokes and darker pooling at the ends of letters. More pronounced in the swabs.
Sheen: None.
Shimmer: None.
Flow: Medium.
The interesting bit: "D'antan" is old French for "of yesteryear", best known from Villon's line asking where the snows of yesteryear have gone. Herbin says the colour is the faded bouquet you'd find in an elderly relative's home, a nod to times gone by. It belongs to La Perle des Encres ("The Jewel of Inks"), Herbin's standard line. The line is said to date from 1700, from a house founded in 1670 that calls itself the oldest name in ink.
