Hachimonjiya Kirameki Jam Series Aurora Blueberry Jam - 4ml Fountain Pen Ink Sample

Hue: Blueberry blue-violet. Hachimonjiya doesn’t publish a colour description beyond the name. In my swatches it splits into a teal-blue edge and a lavender-violet body, with deep indigo where it pools. Written lines are softer than the swabs suggest: a dusty slate blue with a lavender cast.

Shading: Strong in swabs and the dip-pen bar, with clear banding from pale lavender to deep indigo. Subtle in handwriting.

Sheen: None obvious. The darkest pooled areas take on a slight metallic look, but that is mostly dense shimmer rather than true sheen.

Shimmer: Yes. Fine silver-lilac shimmer with occasional pink and green iridescent flashes, which fits the “Aurora” name. It shows most in swabs and wetter strokes and is quieter in fine lines. Shake the vial gently before filling.

Flow: Medium

The interesting bit: A collaboration between Hachimonjiya, a bookshop and stationer from Yamagata in Japan, and à la car-do, an illustrator known for her cosy food artwork. It was made to mark the “Futari SHOP” pop-up at Hachimonjiya’s flagship store. “Kirameki” means “sparkle” in Japanese. The full bottle is styled as a jar of jam, complete with a gingham cloth top tied with cord.
