Ferris Wheel Press Everyday Collection Hearty Harvest - 4ml Fountain Pen Ink Sample

Hue: A warm rust orange-brown. Ferris Wheel Press describe it as "Amber Butterscotch", but my swatches run noticeably deeper and browner than that suggests — closer to terracotta, burnt sienna and cinnamon than to golden butterscotch. In a thin line it reads as a clear autumn orange; in heavier pooling it drops into a dark chestnut with near-maroon edges. Expect something warm and earthy.

Shading: Moderate. My swatches move from a pale amber at the start of a stroke through mid orange and into dark brown at the pools.

Sheen: None observed. 

Shimmer: Yes — rose gold, and generous with it. It's dense enough in the pools to look like a continuous metallic film; in normal writing it's subtler and shows best in broader nibs. As with all shimmer inks, shake before filling and roll the pen occasionally to keep the particles suspended.

Flow: Medium.

The interesting bit: Ferris Wheel Press is a Canadian stationery company based in Markham, Ontario, and the bottle carries the bilingual labelling you'd expect — "Hearty Harvest" on one line, "Récolte Généreuse" on the next. The ink belongs to the brand's illustrated storytelling side: the artwork is set in Grandmother Grizzelda's cottage, where a bear called Bearnice settles in by the hearth as autumn closes in, with a carved carousel horse in the late sunset light as a nod to the company's own Ferris wheel and carousel motifs. The name is doing exactly what it says — harvest colours, hearth warmth, and the point in the year when everyone comes indoors.
