Details

Hue: Officially a burnt goldenrod. On my swatches it reads browner and warmer than that: a caramel-to-toffee brown in writing, with a rosier, reddish-brown cast where it pools. The goldenrod character mostly comes through the shimmer rather than the base colour.

Shading: Moderate. Clear light-to-dark variation in the swab and writing, with ink gathering at the ends of strokes. Heavier pooling gives deep chocolate edges.

Sheen: None observed. The dark rims on the pooled swabs are edge pooling, not sheen.

Shimmer: Gold, and plenty of it. It’s obvious in the swabs and visible even in fine writing, where it catches the light along the strokes.

Flow: Medium

The interesting bit: Part of Ferris Wheel Press’s Catnip Café story, the neighbourhood boulangerie run by Pumpkin the cat, with mouse assistants helping behind the counter. The name comes from the café’s freshly baked bread, which needs nothing more than a little browning and a bit of butter. The bottle carries the bilingual Canadian label “Rissolé et Beurré”.

This is a hand-decanted 4ml sample vial from my own bottle.
Photos are my own swatches on Tomoe River Paper.
I’m a collector and I’m always happy to talk ink, so please message me if you have any questions.
