Colorverse Martian - 4ml Fountain Pen Ink Sample
Details
Hue: A deep brick red-orange. Colorverse and retailers describe it as a burnt or vibrant red-orange, and one description of a dark red-orange laying down with lighter dusty orange lines matches the writing sample closely. My swatches run a shade redder and earthier than "orange" suggests — heavy swabs read as rust and oxblood-brick rather than pumpkin — and there's a distinct amber-gold that separates out at the edges of drops and at the start of a swab bar, which the official copy doesn't mention. Written with a nib it lightens considerably to a warm rust-orange.
Shading: Medium to strong. Clear movement between dark brick in wet strokes and dusty orange in thinner ones, with noticeable chromatic separation to gold-amber at the edges of pooled ink.
Sheen: None.
Shimmer: None.
Flow: Medium.
The interesting bit: Martian is No. 71 in Colorverse's numbered catalogue and comes from Season 5, The Red Planet — a Korean-made set released in 2019, themed on Mars and paired in the box with a 15ml bottle of Life on Mars, a grey-green teal. The two colours are meant as a planetary pairing: the rusty iron-oxide surface everybody pictures when they think of Mars, and the hypothetical life on it. The bottle label carries a little astronaut and a lander, and Colorverse's whole house line is "colorize your universe." The published colour reference for Martian is RGB 200, 78, 39.
