Andhand Waterfall Blue — 4ml Fountain Pen Ink Sample

Hue: A deep blue-violet. Andhand describe it as a rich, deep, intense blue, but on my swatches it leans clearly violet: indigo where it pools, periwinkle where it runs thin. The written line reads as a bright blue-violet.

Shading: Yes, clearly. It moves from pale periwinkle to deep indigo in the swabs, with gentle light-to-dark variation in the written line.

Sheen: Heavy. A red-magenta to burgundy metallic sheen covers large areas of the swabs, edges the dip-pen line, and is strong enough to turn parts of my handwriting burgundy-purple. Andhand don't mention sheen, so this comes from my swatches alone. Tomoe River is very generous to sheen, so expect less on more absorbent paper.

Shimmer: None.

Flow: Medium

The interesting bit: Andhand is an independent British stationery brand founded in 2021 by two London-based industrial designers. They're better known for machined metal pens made on a "buy once" philosophy. Waterfall Blue is one of their British-made inks, alongside Tunnel Black and Forest Hill Green. The name is meant to suggest the layered depth of falling water, and the box and label carry a stylised waterfall with birds overhead. Given how it splits into blue, violet and red on the page, the name fits better than most.
