Hue: A warm golden amber that deepens to caramel brown where it pools. Tono & Lims list it as orange-brown within the Baby Color line, which is marketed as soft and pastel-like — my swatches don't really read pastel. The written line and swab sit at a readable mid-tone, and the pooled areas go considerably darker and ruddier than the official colour chip suggests. Closer to browned butter than to orange.

Shading: Strong and very characterful. The drops show a clear golden core with hard, dark tide lines at the edges, and even the swab bar lightens noticeably through the middle.

Sheen: None visible in my swatches. The darker rims are concentration, not sheen.

Shimmer: None.

Flow: Medium.

The interesting bit: A financier is a small French almond cake made with beurre noisette — browned butter — which gives it that golden crust the ink matches. The usual story goes that it was named for the financiers of the Paris stock exchange district, being baked in a rectangular mould said to resemble a gold ingot and neat enough to eat without ruining a suit.

This is a hand-decanted 4ml sample vial from my own bottle.
Photos are my own swatches on Tomoe River Paper.
