Sailor x BlueBlack Matcha Latte - 4ml Fountain Pen Ink Sample
Details
Hue: A muted olive/matcha green. It's yellow-olive in the written line and a deeper moss green where it pools. It's often described as a grassy green with brown undertones, but on my swatches it reads more olive than grassy, and the "brown" shows up mainly as a dark plum-brown edge on heavy pools.
Shading: Good. The pen bar and handwriting move clearly between a light yellow-green and a deeper olive.
Sheen: A plum-maroon edge where the ink pools heavily. I didn't see any in the written line.
Shimmer: None.
Flow: Medium
The interesting bit: Sailor made this exclusively for BlueBlack, a pen shop in Seoul, as part of their Drink Series. There are 16 inks in the series, each named after a drink, from Cherry Coke to Misutgaru, a Korean roasted-grain drink. The bottle label spells it "Malcha Latte", which is the Korean romanisation of 말차 (matcha). The label also carries a drippy matcha-cup illustration.
This is a hand-decanted 4ml sample vial from my own bottle.
Photos are my own swatches on Tomoe River Paper.
I'm a collector and I'm always happy to talk ink, so please message me if you have any questions.
