Hue: Sailor describes it as a warm orange-brown based on orange pekoe tea. My swatches are redder than that. In writing it is a rust or terracotta brown, and the orange only shows in lighter strokes. Where the ink pools, it deepens to a dark brick brown.

Shading: Yes, and it's clear. Strokes move from lighter orange-brown to deeper red-brown where the ink collects at the ends of letters.

Sheen: None in normal writing. On the heavily pooled swabs the edges dry to a very dark brown, almost black rim, but I wouldn't call that a true sheen.

Shimmer: None.

Flow: Medium.

The interesting bit: This is the fourth release in Sailor's Teatime Around the World series (世界のTeatime on the box), where each chapter celebrates a tea tradition from a different country. This one is English afternoon tea, and it came out alongside the Three Tiers and Scone pens. The colour is based on orange pekoe. Despite the name, orange pekoe is a black tea leaf grade and has nothing to do with oranges.

This is a hand-decanted 4ml sample vial from my own bottle.
Photos are my own swatches on Tomoe River Paper.
