Sailor Jentle Grenade - 4ml Fountain Pen Ink Sample
Details
Hue: Deep pomegranate red-purple. Usually described as a dark red, maroon or burgundy. On my swatches it leans noticeably more berry-magenta than a true red, with a rosier red where the ink sits thin.
Shading: Moderate. It moves from rosy red to deep berry in both the swab bar and the handwriting.
Sheen: Heavy olive-green to gold sheen on Tomoe River. It shows even in handwriting and floods the edges of the swabs. Expect much less on more absorbent paper.
Shimmer: None.
Flow: Medium.
The interesting bit: "Grenade" is French for pomegranate, which gives the colour its name. The military grenade was itself named after the fruit. Grenade is one of Sailor's original Jentle colours. It was discontinued in the mid-2010s and brought back in 2017 alongside Peche, Apricot, Epinard and Sky High.
This is a hand-decanted 4ml sample vial from my own bottle.
Photos are my own swatches on Tomoe River Paper.
