Sailor Jentle Four Seasons Miruai - 4ml Fountain Pen Ink Sample

Hue: A very dark blue-green, officially described as a deep seaweed green with hints of blue. My writing sample matches this. It reads close to black-green in the line, with slate-teal showing at the lighter edges. The difference is in the pooled swatches, where the sheen takes over so much that they read more plum-brown than green in photos. The green is still there underneath and is what you'll see on the page.

Shading: Moderate. It moves from a lighter slate teal to near-black green, visible in the swab bar and in broader strokes.

Sheen: Heavy burgundy-red sheen wherever the ink pools. On the dip bar it covers large sections. Expect much less in finer nibs and on absorbent paper.

Shimmer: None

Flow: Medium

The interesting bit: The name is written 海松藍 on the box. Miru (海松) is a green seaweed and ai (藍) means indigo, which is why it's sold in English as "Seaweed Indigo." It's part of Sailor's Four Seasons (Shikiori) collection, where each colour is tied to a season in Japan. Sailor places Miruai in spring, though plenty of reviewers think it feels more like winter. This sample is from the older 50ml Jentle bottling.
