Pelikan Edelstein Jade — 4ml Fountain Pen Ink Sample
Details
Hue: A bright teal-green. Pelikan and most retailers describe it as a soft, light green. My swatches lean noticeably more blue, closer to a jade-teal than a true light green, and the written line is a clear mid-tone rather than soft or pale.
Shading: Moderate. The swab bar moves from light teal to a deeper green, and the writing darkens where ink pools at the ends of strokes.
Sheen: None in normal writing. Heavy pools dry with a dark, near-black edge rim.
Shimmer: None.
Flow: Medium.
The interesting bit: Edelstein is German for "gemstone," and every colour in Pelikan's premium range is named after one. The word "jade" comes from the Spanish "piedra de ijada," meaning stone of the loin, because the stone was once believed to cure kidney complaints. Pelikan itself dates back to 1838 in Hanover, where it started as a chemist's business making paints and inks.
This is a hand-decanted 4ml sample vial from my own bottle.
