Sold and reviewed as a dark purple. On my swatches the thin dip-pen line reads as a medium, fairly clear violet, lighter than "dark" suggests. Heavier lines and handwriting go deeper, towards plum.

Shading: Minimal. Colour is mostly even in normal writing. It is a classic seasonal word in haiku, and the anniversary of Bashō's death is known as Shigure-ki. This ink comes from the original 50ml Jentle Four Seasons bottle.
