My swatches show more range than that. In writing it is a soft grey-green, and where the ink pools in the loops it turns a dusty pink-taupe. Heavier application separates into rose-pink, olive, slate purple and near-black edges. Expect a muted green with warm pink undertones, not a flat green.

Shading: Yes, moderate to strong. It moves from pale grey-green to deeper olive and pink in a single stroke.

Sheen: Subtle. It was voted into the community’s Top 3 and re-released in 2026 as a standalone ink. The name comes from Erebus crater on Mars, a wind-eroded crater the Opportunity rover drove around and photographed. The colour is Colorverse’s take on that Martian landscape: muted and dusty, with more going on underneath than first appears.

This is a hand-decanted 4ml sample vial from my own bottle.
Photos are my own swatches on Tomoe River Paper.
I’m a collector and I’m always happy to talk ink, so please message me if you have any questions.

https://thepensmuggler.co.uk/products/colorverse-colorvent-2025-erebus-crater-4ml-fountain-pen-ink-sample
